About
Leviathan Golden grew up in the Chicago suburbs, spending much of his childhood exploring nature, fascinated by its intersection between beauty & power.
He would roam through the trees, enchanted by the temporary freedom from the public world, consumed by the seemingly eternal presence of nature, and the lives it both gives & takes away. From this stemmed an obsession with the cycle of life & death, light & dark, peace & chaos.
Graduating from Columbia College Chicago in 2023 with a BA in Theatre Design and Technology, Levi ventured down many artistic paths, including sewing, photography, pen & ink drawing, and painting. Though he began oil painting at 10 years old, he did not fully return to the medium until after graduating college. He spends time teaching teens and adults how to use oil paint, deepening his own understanding and appreciation of the medium of his youth.
His preferred subjects to paint & photograph tend to be looked over by most; strangely bent trees, withered and dry flowers in late autumn, intricately woven spider webs, forest scenes smothered by fog, animal and human skulls and skeletons. He aims to give new life to these underappreciated parts of our world, depicting them with the grace, elegance, and complexity that they deserve.
Levi is based out of Chicago, IL, and can be reached at the email below for inquiries.
